Voting is not just a right, it is a responsibility.

We are in an election year, so please REGISTER EARLY to make sure your vote is counted!  Our overseas votes can, and do, make a difference!

The General Election - for control of Congress - is Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

When the winning candidate be determined only after the overseas ballots have been counted we see how important our absentee votes are to the outcome of an election!  With election margins often extremely narrow, every vote is critical to the election of many Republican candidates; and, thus, Republicans Abroad has the important job of mobilizing overseas voters for U.S. elections.

Convinced that a vast majority of Americans living abroad are conservative Republicans (some reports indicate as high as 80%), RA’s resolve over the last election years has been, by voter outreach, to  improve the voter participation rate (37% since at least 1996) … and we did in 2004 with an increase of 21 percentage points to 58%! overseas citizens voting.

Government survey stats from 2000 show that of those overseas citizens who did not vote, 49% did not do so because they did not know how to get an absentee ballot; and, 27% did not think they were eligible to vote!

Toward this goal of getting out the overseas vote, Republicans Abroad organizes and participates with local U.S. embassies and consulate offices, as well as other American overseas organizations, in voter registration events and providing non-partisan voting information and assistance.  Our experienced Voting Assistance Officers are available any time to help any U.S. citizen understand and exercise their right to vote absentee from overseas.  This is a community service and those we assist are not asked their political party nor are they asked about joining our organization.

Along with other American overseas groups, Republicans Abroad also continues to work to make voting from overseas easier, including eliminating some states’ onerous requirements such as notarization, expanding electronic transmission of voting materials, and other measures to ensure timely receipt and delivery of ballots so that every eligible voter's vote counts!
